Role

The role of the Office of the President is to serve as the internal and external liaison and administrative support for the College's CEO, H. Neyle Wilson. In addition, the Office provides administrative support to the Horry-Georgetown Technical College Area Commission, the College's governing board, and the President's Advisory Council for Access/Equity & Opportunity. The staff also works at the will of the President to support the Cabinet, the organization of the College's senior executive administrators. Also, the Office is the College's central media information source, distributing press releases and public service announcements, in addition to monitoring public and governmental trends and events affecting the College.

Staff
There are three full-time staff members in the President's Office. These three, with the assistance of other College departments, plan and coordinate all special projects and events for the President, and provide the above-mentioned support.

W. Gregory Thompson - As Executive Assistant to the President/Director of College Relations & Marketing, Greg serves as internal and external liaison for the President. He also provides support to the President's Cabinet and the Area Commission, and is the College's media contact person. In that capacity, he is responsible for writing and distributing news releases, feature stories and public service announcements, and for securing media coverage of major College events and news. Greg also leads the College's Office of College Relations & Marketing, which is responsible for establishing public relations and promotions strategies and campaigns, as well as leading in initiatives related to community outreach and relations. Greg also plays a major role in coordination of special events, both internal and external, involving the President, and he coordinates government relations. A native and resident of Conway, SC, and an employee of the College since 1997, Greg is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina, having received a Bachelors Degree in English from the University in 1992. Also, he holds a Master of Science degree in Human Relations & Business from Amberton University in Garland, Texas.

 

Cathy L. Brown- As Administrative Assistant to the President, Cathy is responsible for daily administrative support of President's Office functions. She also serves as the chief administrative support and coordinating resource person for the Area Commission, arranging travel arrangements for special meetings/conferences and compiling agenda books for monthly meetings. Cathy facilitates communications between the President and the Area Commission regarding data and pertinent information processed by or directed to the President’s Office. A native and resident of Loris, SC, Cathy is an alumnus of HGTC with an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science and has been employed with the College for over 14 years. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies through HGTC and Coastal Carolina University.

 

 

Donna L. Burrows- As Administrative Assistant to the President, Donna is responsible for daily administrative support of the President and for maintenance of the President's schedule. In addition, she serves as a lead coordinator of the College's annual Commission on Higher Education Performance Funding data and reporting. Also, Donna provides administrative support for the President and affected staff on College capital projects. She is an alumnus of HGTC, holding an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science, and has been employed with the College for nearly 20 years. A native and resident of the Pleasant Hill area of Georgetown County, Donna is a Certified Professional Secretary, and she is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies through HGTC and Coastal Carolina University.
