Horry-Georgetown Technical College is a comprehensive technical and
community college comprised of three campuses. The
Georgetown Campus originated in 1977 and is located three miles
south of the historic City of Georgetown on a 30-acre site. The
Georgetown Campus provides accessible and affordable educational
opportunities in career education and occupational preparation,
university parallel studies, developmental education and community
education and training. In
addition, the Georgetown Campus provides extensive offerings for
occupational upgrading and economic growth both in corporate
settings within the County.
The Georgetown Campus is committed to a learner-centered environment
and is intended to be a comprehensive campus featuring a reasonable
breadth of most educational and student support services. The
Campus proudly respects its heritage as part of historic Georgetown
and of the industrial and natural resource base of the County. The
Campus strives to preserve this distinctive tradition in the design
of its facilities and in its connections with, and support of,
surrounding corporate and community developments. The
Campus serves all of Georgetown County through its location and its
specialized program areas and community outreach.
Specialized programs of career study offered on the Georgetown
Campus include:
Forestry Technology, Practical Nursing, Surgical Technician, Computer
Technology, Business Administration, Law Enforcement, Welding,
Medical Office Clerical Assistant, and Office Systems Technology. Through
the offerings at Georgetown Campus, the College awards the Associate
in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Applied Science, and
Technical Certificate credentials. The
Campus takes College-wide leadership in Natural Resources,
Engineering and Industrial Technology career areas.
The Georgetown Campus actively supports community and economic
development through participation in government, non-profit, and
civic associations devoted to improving the community. |
