Technical College is a comprehensive technical and community college
comprised of three campuses, and an off-campus site in North Myrtle
Beach. The Grand Strand Campus, originating in 1989, was relocated
on a 75-acre tract of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base in
1996. The Grand Strand Campus provides accessible and affordable
educational opportunities in career education and occupational
preparation, university parallel studies, developmental education
and community education and training. In addition, the Grand Strand
Campus is the locus for the College’s services in Corporate
Education and Training through the Grand Strand Conference Center,
which serves to provide extensive offerings for occupational
upgrading and economic growth both on-site and in corporate
settings.
The Grand Strand Campus is committed to providing a learner-centered
environment, with comprehensive educational and student support
services, as well as community outreach and focus. The Campus, while
serving all of Horry County through its convenient location and its
specialized program areas, strives to develop special partnerships
with the City of Myrtle Beach, Horry County, and other organizations
along the Grand Strand. The South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy
Regional Training Site as well as an off-campus site of Charleston
Southern University, a Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club, a
courtroom, and law library are all housed on the Grand Strand
Campus. Additionally, the Grand Strand Campus serves as the
Regional Training Site for the CISCO Networking programs; and campus
facilities also include a hospitality suite, full-scale dining room
and auditorium.
Specialized programs of study offered on the Grand Strand Campus
include: Criminal Justice; General Business; Hospitality and
Tourism Management; Paralegal/Legal Assistant; Massage Therapy;
Interior Design; Horticulture Technology, Human Services; Health
Sciences; CISCO Networking; Fire Science; and University Parallel.
In the fall of 2004, new programs in
Digital Arts,
Emergency Medical Technician, Phlebotomy, and Pharmacy
Technician are planned. The College has obtained over 50,000 square
feet of additional space through the acquisition of the former base
hospital. Renovation plans are currently being developed for the
future design as an Allied Health Center.
