A forest technician occupies a
middle-management
position and has the technical knowledge, as well as the
understanding and ability to apply basic forestry management
concepts. Technicians often assume responsibility for supervising
timber sales and logging operations; conducting field research;
implementing practices that will enhance timber growth; working in
tree nursery operations; land surveying; inventorying timber
volumes; sawmill operations; and wood product sales.
