Transfer and Articulation

Horry-Georgetown Technical College provides a variety of transfer opportunities through articulation agreements and letters of understanding with colleges and universities across the southeastern United States. The transfer agreements and opportunities with each college and university listed are available for review at the following locations:

(1) Office of the Associate in Arts/Associate in Science faculty advisors on all three campuses; or

(2) Office of the Associate Vice President for University Parallel and General Studies on the Conway Campus, Bldg. 200, Room 165.

The curriculum for the associate degree is designed to allow a maximum transfer of credits.  However, transfer requirements for senior colleges and universities vary.  Therefore, each student is responsible for planning a program of study to meet the requirements of the senior college or university to which the student expects to transfer.  A student planning to transfer the first two years from Horry-Georgetown Technical College to a senior college or university should obtain a copy of that institution’s catalog.

Courses taken under associate degrees in any of the technologies offered at HGTC many times will be accepted as transfer credit at four-year colleges and universities.  Please see an academic advisor for further information, or check the website of the college or university you are interested in for further clarification and/or verification.

Any questions about transfer agreements or opportunities should be directed to the Chief Transfer Officer:

An articulation agreement does not guarantee all courses will transfer. Exact admission and course requirements vary from institution to institution. Students must plan a program of study to meet the specific requirements of the four-year college/university they plan to attend. The student's planning should include contacting the program director at the four-year college/university and reviewing the institution's catalog (bulletin). You may also check the website of the college or university you are interested in for further clarification.  Many of the catalogs for regional colleges/universities are available in the Career Counseling and Placement Center, and Library on each HGTC campus. The counseling staff at Horry-Georgetown Technical College, available on all campuses, will assist students in exploring college transfer opportunities.
