APPROVALS
Horry-Georgetown Technical College is accredited by the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the
South Carolina Technical College System. In addition, many
of the departments and/or programs at Horry-Georgetown Technical College
are accredited or approved by national and regional accreditation
boards, commissions and/or associations. Horry-Georgetown
Technical College actively seeks accreditation through these bodies when
the potential for the student’s employment is depended upon such
accreditation or enhanced by the recognition.
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and

the associate degrees, diplomas and certificates.
Technology Accreditation Commission of the
Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc.
The Civil Engineering Technology and the Electronics Engineering
Technology programs are accredited by the Technology Accreditation
Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology,
Inc.
American Culinary Federation Educational
Institute Accrediting Commission
The Culinary Arts Technology program is accredited by the American
Culinary Federation Educational Institute Accrediting Commission.

The Hospitality/Tourism Management program
at Horry-Georgetown Technical College is accredited by the Commission on

Commission on Dental
Accreditation
The Dental Assisting program is accredited
by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (and has been granted the
accreditation status of preliminary provisional approval). The
Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United
States Department of Education. The Commission on Dental

The Dental Hygiene program has received
“Accreditation Eligible" status from the Commission on Dental
Accreditation, American Dental Association.
Society of American Foresters
The Forestry Management Technology program is recognized by
the Society of American Foresters.
American Bar Association
The Legal Assistant/Paralegal program is approved by the American Bar
Association.
Joint Committee on Education in Radiologic
Technology (JRCERT)
The Radiologic Technology program is accredited by the Joint Committee on
Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) for eight years, until 2007.
National League for Nursing
Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
The Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing programs
have approval by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina and are
accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC),
