MISSION STATEMENT
The
mission of the Associate Degree Program in Hospitality/Tourism
Management at Horry-Georgetown Technical College is:
To provide a quality educational opportunity for students who wish to
acquire relevant knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to achieve
a successful management career in the lodging and foodservice
industries.
To provide area employers with quality management personnel:
a.
Who demonstrate honesty, integrity, loyalty, and
enthusiasm with a positive attitude;
b.
Who demonstrate
sensitivity to others resulting in a high degree of guest and employee
satisfaction;
c.
Who are “team” players;
d.
Who possess the human, technical, financial,
organizational and promotional skills required to set reasonable
business goals and consistently achieve them; and
e.
Who are committed to lifelong learning in order to keep
pace with a rapidly changing global environment in the twenty-firsts
century.
VALUES STATEMENT
We, the
faculty and students of the Hospitality/Tourism Management program:
1. believe
in the worth of every individual, and that all persons, regardless of
economic status, social status, race, color, creed, national origin, or
gender should be treated equally with dignity and respect;
2. believe
that all transactions, both personal and business, must be governed by
honesty and fairness;

believe that employers and employees must be committed to
mutual loyalty;
4. believe
that enthusiasm and a positive attitude are essential to success in the
hospitality industry;

that we must show sensitivity to the needs and feelings of others
including guests, peers, superiors, and the public at large;
6. believe
that hard work and dedication are essential to success in any human
endeavor;

in the free market system and that competition is beneficial to the
business community as well as the general public;

that goals can best be achieve in concert with others in a spirit of
cooperation and teamwork;

that work productivity of the individual is best enhanced through a
proper balance of work life and personal life; and
